Staff Profile #17 - Maëliss



Hello, everyone!


With only 22 years, Maëliss excels in her achievements and experience gained from numerous internships and work in various fields. After 4 years of intensive higher education, she has decided to do her Civic Service in Kosovo. The perfect place to turn 6 months of life into an unforgettable story! 🧐🏉🧗‍

This smart girl is working as a Pedagogical Assistant as she participates in the deployment and implementation of the NGO’s pedagogical programmes and tools with the Pedagogical Trainers and Coordinators. Maëliss's mission is to support the development of awareness raising and educative actions led by PLAY.

She is also assisting the pedagogical manager for the organization of seminars of volunteers and professionals, participate to the evaluation of activities and collection of data. Moreover, she states that is going to be her pleasure to support staff capacity building by developing training sessions. Maëliss looks forward to discovering and contributing to fundraising activities and periodic donor reporting requirements but also to communications material.

 



When we asked her what she thinks about her service in Kosovo, Maëliss said:

As a Peace Studies student who is passionate about youth camp organization and sport, I really wanted to link these fields in one experience, and I found PLAY International! Being part of the pedagogical team and contribute to social cohesion, youth empowerment and peace building through sport-activities in Kosovo is truly important for youth and children to grow up in a more tolerant, inclusive and generous world. It is at the same time an amazing experience for me! As it is my first time working for an international NGO and in Kosovo, the team takes the time to explain to me cultural aspects, to make me discover the culinary specialties and the good plans in Pristina. There is an amazing energy, great values and good vibes they share every day. I am very grateful for all of that! Finally, I am discovering rugby with local and international players. The adventure is on!

Fun fact to go: Have you ever heard of the Tahitian Dance? 🤔If not then you are lucky to read this article and having the chance through Maëliss to introduce yourself to this amazing dance. This is her favorite type of dance and she would love to implement one introductive session during one of the team building activities, and we can't wait for it! 💃

  Staff profile #33                                               Introducing our new Project Coordinator, Bleta! Born and raised in Prishtina, Kosovo. Bleta completed her bachelors degree in Speech and Language Pathology at “Kolegji Heimerer” in her hometown. During the last year of her studies, she undertook an internship in a private clinic, where after 6 months she became a full time Speech Therapist for the following  four years. During that time Bleta also started worked with a non-governmental organization in a public school project that had the goal to include more logopedic and psychological sessions in schools.      When she’s not working, she likes to cook, but she doesn’t like to take care of the clean up  after cooking.   Staff profile #34                 Today, we're excited to introduce you to Lorik Zhubi, our newest Programme Manager! Lorik comes from Kosovo’s northern town of Mitrovica, however he spent most of his life in the United States where he completed his bachelor studies in biology and history. After his studies, Lorik returned to Kosovo to work on child and maternal health in civil society. Thereafter, he completed his master studies in global health policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), during which he observed the theories he was learning in the classroom play out in real time during the COVID-19 pandemic.
